Sonlicromanol, also known as KH-176, is potentially for the treatment of mitochondrial diseases. KH-176 is a potent intracellular redox modulating agent targeting the reactive oxygen species which are important in the pathogenesis of disorders of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. The in vivo metabolite of Sonlicromanol, KH176m, acts both as redox-modulator (via mPGES-1 inhibition) and as antioxidant (via Thioredoxin/Peroxiredoxin system).
