Oxprenoate potassium is a synthetic steroidal antimineralocorticoid which was never marketed. The affinities of oxprenoate potassium for the steroid hormone receptors have been reported. Mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) antagonism with oxprenoate potassium inhibited aldosterone-induced increases in galectin-3 in primary rat aortic vascular smooth muscle cells, but these compounds had no effect on galectin-3 concentrations in the absence of aldosterone.
