Biological target:
LCS-1 is a superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) inhibitor.
In vitro activity:
siRNAs against SOD1 slowed the growth of LCS-1 sensitive cell lines; conversely, expression of a SOD1 cDNA increased proliferation of H358 cells and reduced sensitivity of these cells to LCS-1. In vivo activity:
Furthermore, LCS-1 decreased the growth of xenograft tumors formed by U87 glioma cells in nude mice. Reference: Front Oncol. 2022 Aug 1;12:937444. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35978820/
