Gendenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor structurally related to sildenafil, used primarily in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It enhances nitric oxide–mediated vasodilation by inhibiting the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the corpus cavernosum. Though less widely known or marketed than other PDE5 inhibitors, gendenafil demonstrates similar pharmacodynamic properties and is under investigation or use in certain regions.
