MedKoo Cat#: 581957 | Name: Decanoyl acetaldehyde

Description:

WARNING: This product is for research use only, not for human or veterinary use.

Decanoyl acetaldehyde is a natural product, which is the main antibacterial component in the essential oil from Hottuynia cordata Thunb. Houttuyninum (decanoyl acetaldehyde; HOU) showed a strong suppressive effect on the mouse's ear edema induced by croton oil and on the rat's hid paw edema induced by carrageenin. HOU also inhibited vascular permeability induced by acetic acid in mice. In addition, a significant analgesic effect of HOU was observed on inflammatory pain caused by acetic acid, formaldehyde and heat stimulus.

More Info
Houttuynia cordata Thunb. (H. cordata) is an anti-inflammatory herbal drug that is clin. used in Asia. The essential oil obtained from H. cordata is known to contain 2-undecanone (2-Me nonyl ketone). In addition, sodium houttuyfonate is a compound that can be derived from H. cordata and has important clin. uses as an anti-inflammatory agent. Sodium houttuyfonate can be converted to decanoyl acetaldehyde (houttuynin) and then to 2-undecanone.
