Biological target:
L-Dithiothreitol is a chiral bidentate dithiol with two stereogenic centers, may be used in chiroptical response research.
In vitro activity:
D,L-dithiothreitol was used to reduce cellular homocystine to homocysteine. Reference: Biomed Chromatogr. 2007 Jan;21(1):107-12. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17121413/
In vivo activity:
DTT (L-Dithiothreitol) treatment significantly inhibited cell proliferation and promoted apoptosis in rat hepatocytes. The levels of proteins related to ERS and endoplasmic reticulophagy, MERCs and the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway significantly increased in BRL-3A cells treated with DTT. DTT treatment decreased the ER-lysosome co-localization and enhanced the fluorescence intensity of Ca2+ in mitochondria.
