Opiranserin (also known as VVZ-149) is a dual-acting analgesic with selective antagonism at glycine transporter type 2 (GlyT2) and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. It was primarily developed for postoperative pain management. In preclinical models, Opiranserin showed potent antinociceptive effects, with GlyT2 inhibition enhancing glycine-mediated inhibitory neurotransmission in the spinal cord, and 5-HT2A antagonism modulating central pain perception.
