Resolvin E1, also known as RX-10001, is a lipid modulator potentially for the treatment of asthma, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease and for the treatment of cardiovascular disorders. Resolvin E1 promotes tear production, corneal epithelial integrity, and a decrease in inflammatory inducible COX-2. In the stroma, Resolvin E1 inhibits keratocyte transformation to myofibroblasts and lowers the number of monocytes/macrophages.
