Synnepyrrole A is an anitbacterial agent whose mode of action has been characterized in Bacillus subtilis. Synnepyrrole A has been found to target the cytoplasmic membrane with evidence of protonophore activity occurring, and at higher concentrations, negatively has been shown to affect membrane function, allowing for normally membrane-impermeable dye molecules to pass through.
