URB937 is a potent and selective inhibitor of the fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) enzyme, which is responsible for the degradation of anandamide, an endogenous cannabinoid. Unlike other FAAH inhibitors, URB937 has restricted brain penetration due to its inability to cross the blood-brain barrier, selectively increasing anandamide levels in peripheral tissues, with an IC50 of 3 nM for FAAH inhibition.
