Description:

WARNING: This product is for research use only, not for human or veterinary use.

Teclozan, also known as WIN 13146, is an antiprotozoal agent. Teclozan is primarily used for treating Entamoeba histolytica infections. It exhibits its bioactivity by inhibiting trophozoite growth, likely through interference with protozoal metabolic pathways. Studies have reported an IC₅₀ in the low micromolar range against E. histolytica (e.g., ~1-10 µM). While its exact mechanism remains unclear, it is suggested to disrupt oxidative processes within the parasite. Compared to standard anti-amoebic agents like metronidazole, teclozan has shown a slower but sustained efficacy. It has also been tested for activity against Giardia lamblia, with moderate inhibition observed in vitro.
