The biological target of SUVN-911 is the 5-HT6 receptor. This receptor is primarily found in the central nervous system and is involved in modulating the release of various neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin.

SUVN-911 HCl was studied in two phase I trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy subjects. The studies demonstrated that single doses up to 60 mg and multiple daily doses up to 45 mg were well tolerated, with headache and nausea being the most commonly reported adverse events. Ropanicant exhibited nonlinear pharmacokinetics, showing increased exposure upon multiple dosing, and its pharmacokinetics were influenced by sex, with higher exposures observed in females compared to males, while food intake and age did not significantly affect its pharmacokinetics.
