Product Data
Biological target:
Menbutone is an oxobutyric acid derivative, and is a choleretic.
In vitro activity:
Two novel series of TAC-fenbufen/menbutone conjugated molecules were designed, synthesized and bio-assayed. Five TAC-menbutone molecules showed improved AChE and Aβ aggregation inhibition capacity compared to TAC-fenbufen conjugated molecules. Overall, these novel series of molecules may be potential drug lead molecules in the treatment of AD. Reference: Chem Biodivers. 2021 Feb;18(2):e2000083. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33448662/
In vivo activity:
Adult steers were given either clanobutin or menbutone intravenously and the effects on bile flow measured. When bile flow was previously reduced by reducing the total bile salts in the enterohepatic circulation both compounds were potent choleretics, increasing the volume of bile flow up to four-fold.
