Product Data
Biological target:
Lactose, a major sugar in the milk of most species, could regulate human’s intestinal microflora.
In vitro activity:
In the in vitro part of the study, a concentration-dependent inhibitory effect of lactose on in vitro C. perfringens α toxin activity was observed, whereas protein did not influence α toxin activity. Reference: J Dairy Sci. 2023 Jan;106(1):733-742. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36333142/
In vivo activity:
Further, 13R054 G5P[7] and 12R046 G9P[23] infectivity was significantly reduced by β-lactose in MA104 cells and primary porcine enterocytes. These data suggest that lactose, the main natural sugar in milk, plays an important role in protecting piglets from enteric viral replication and diarrhea.
