Product Data
Biological target:
SB-258585 binds highly to a single receptor population in a human cell line that recombines 5-HT6 receptors. SB-258585 can be used to label recombinant and natural 5-HT6 receptors.
In vitro activity:
In cultured neuronal and mammalian cell lines, SB258585 potentiated cell death and induced an increase in [Ca2+]i, demonstrating an effect independent of 5-HT6 receptors. Reference: Toxicol In Vitro. 2011 Dec;25(8):2035-40. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21864673/
In vivo activity:
SB-258585 significantly reduced defecation in non-stressed rats for up to 7 hours after administration. In rats experiencing context-conditioned fear, SB-258585 also notably decreased the number of faecal boli produced. These results imply exploring SB-258585's effects on irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea. Reference: Eur J Pharmacol. 2019 Dec 1;864:172718. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31586629/
