Description:

WARNING: This product is for research use only, not for human or veterinary use.

Mequitazine is a potent histamine H1 antagonist or antihistamine. It competes with histamine for the normal H1-receptor sites on effector cells of the gastrointestinal tract, blood vessels and respiratory tract. Mequitazine provides effective, temporary relief of sneezing, watery and itchy eyes, and runny nose due to hay fever and other upper respiratory allergies.

Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
Biological target:
Mequitazine is a potent, and long-acting histamine H1 antagonist.
In vitro activity:
TBD
In vivo activity:
Mequitazine, 10-(3-quinuclidinylmethyl) phenothiazine, inhibited contractile responses to KCl, phenylephrine (PE), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), and Ca2+ in rat aorta. Mequitazine potentiated the relaxation to nitroglycerin (NTG) and isoproterenol. These results suggests that mequitazine may inhibit voltage-operated Ca2+ channels (VOC) and increases the level of cyclic AMP.
