Aditerin is a gene therapy treatment for high-risk non–muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) that is unresponsive to Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy. It utilizes a non-replicating adenoviral vector to deliver the gene encoding human interferon alpha 2B (IFNα2b) into bladder urothelial cells. Once inside the cells, the IFNα2b gene is expressed, leading to the production and secretion of IFNα2b, a cytokine that enhances the body's immune response against cancer cells .
