Alanycarb is a carbamate insecticide and nematicide introduced by Otsuka Chemical Co. Ltd. in the late 1980s . It functions as a contact and systemic pesticide, effectively controlling a broad spectrum of pests, including lepidopteran larvae, coleopteran beetles, thrips, and hemipteran bugs, in crops such as grapes, citrus fruits, vegetables, and tobacco. The compound operates by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE), an enzyme responsible for breaking down acetylcholine in the nervous system. This inhibition leads to an accumulation of acetylcholine at synaptic junctions, causing continuous nerve stimulation, paralysis, and ultimately death of the target pests .
