SKP-451 is a chemical compound known as 2-pyrrolidinone, 1-((2S)-2-(1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)-2-methyl-6-nitro-2H-1-benzopyran-4-yl)-, (S)-. It has the molecular formula C17H18N2O6 and a molecular weight of 346.3346. The compound features a benzopyran structure with a nitro group at position 6, a methyl group at position 2, and a 1,3-dioxolane ring at position 2. SKP-451 is a potassium channel opener, which means it can relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure. Studies have shown that SKP-451 has a higher potency than levcromakalim, another potassium channel opener, in causing vasorelaxation in canine coronary arteries and rabbit basilar and vertebral arteries. Additionally, SKP-451 and its metabolite, SKP-818, produce long-lasting decreases in mean arterial pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats.
