X609 is a HIF-1 inhibitor with IC50 value 0.32 nM. It remarkably downregulated the hypoxia induced expression of the HIF1 target gene, VEGF. Interestingly, X609 inhibited MG-63 and HOS osteosarcoma cells better than manassantin A, and it was more effective under hypoxic conditions than normoxia. When X609 was administered orally to nude mice, the growth of human osteosarcomas significantly decreased.
