In a transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer's disease, SPG-302 treatment increased dendritic spine density and enhanced the expression of key postsynaptic proteins, leading to significant improvements in synaptic and cognitive deficits without altering amyloid or tau pathology. Similarly, in a rat model of spinal cord injury, SPG-302 administration over 14 days ameliorated electromyography deficits of the diaphragm muscle and improved functional recovery, indicating its potential to enhance motor function post-injury.
