[Pilo-OEG]Cl is an anti-glaucoma drug candidate, and was found to be more potent than PiloHCl in terms of ability to lower intraocular pressure. Unlike previous anti-glaucoma treatments, [Pilo-OEG]Cl displayed enhanced stability, increased corneal permeability, and improved biocompatibility, making it a promising candidate for anti-glaucoma therapy and paving a path for potential future applications of converting current pharmaceutical glaucoma drugs into active ionic liquids.
