DNs-HMRG is a highly sensitive fluorescent glutathione (GSH) probe with good cell permeability, regulated by both intramolecular spirocyclization and photo-induced electron transfer. DNs-HMRG has potential for tumor detection, and due to the fact that GSH is present in higher levels in tumors, has been successfully used for detection of small tumors in mice.
