N-(4,6-divinyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-PEG4-acid is a novel cysteine binder coupled to a terminal carboxylic acid bound by a PEG linker. The divinyltriazine works by stapling of two cysteine residues to form macrocyclic peptides from their unprotected linear counterparts. The hydrophilic PEG spacer increases solubility in aqueous media. The terminal carboxylic acid can react with primary amine groups in the presence of activators (e.g. EDC, or HATU) to form a stable amide bond.
