Product Data
Biological target:
Ronidazole is active against a panel of T. foetus isolates with minimum lethal concentrations (MLCs) ranging from 0.625 to 1.25 µg/ml. Ronidazole is active against C. difficile bacteria (MIC90 = 0.125 µg/ml). Ronidazole inhibits infection relapse in a cat model of experimental T. foetus infection.
In vitro activity:
To be determined
In vivo activity:
Ronidazole merits further investigation as a potential treatment for clostridioides difficile infections. Ronidazole did not inhibit growth of several commensal organisms naturally present in the human intestine that play a protective role in preventing clostridioides difficile infections. Ronidazole was found to be non-toxic to human gut cells. Reference: Int J Antimicrob Agents. 2020 Dec;56(6):106188. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33045352/
