VULM 1457 is a potent inhibitor of acyl-CoA: cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT), an enzyme involved in cholesterol metabolism. By inhibiting ACAT, VULM 1457 decreases cholesterol levels in the plasma and liver, demonstrating significant hypolipidemic activity. Additionally, it has been shown to reduce the production and secretion of adrenomedullin (AM) and down-regulate AM receptors in human hepatoblastic cells.
