Product Data
Biological target:
RU-58841 is a non-steroidal antiandrogen that binds to the androgen receptor (Kd = 1.8, 1.1, 5.6, 1.3, and 1.4 nM for human, rat, mouse, hamster prostate, and hamster flank organ receptors, respectively). RU-58841 also induces hair regrowth in the bald frontal scalps of post-pubertal stump-tailed macaques.
In vitro activity:
To be determined
In vivo activity:
Topical application of RU-58841 revealed a potent increase in density, thickening, and length of hair in the macaque model of androgenetic alopecia, whereas no systemic effects were detected. RU-58841 may have potent antagonism to the wt AR and could be considered as a topically applied active anti-androgen for the treatment of androgen-dependent skin disorders, such as acne, androgenetic alopecia, and hirsutism.
