Glyceryl monolinoleate, also known as mono-linolein or glyceryl 9,12-octadecadienoate, is a monoacylglycerol derivative of linoleic acid. It has been studied primarily for its bioactivity in dermatological and antimicrobial contexts. Glyceryl monolinoleate exhibits antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) reported in the range of 64–128 µg/mL. It also shows moderate antifungal activity. In skin-related studies, it enhances percutaneous drug absorption and improves skin hydration by acting as a penetration enhancer and emollient.
