Product Data
Biological target:
[D-Ala2]leucine-enkephalin, a delta opioid agonist, is a degradation resistant long-acting Leu-enkephalin.
In vitro activity:
L-ENK (Leucine-enkephalin) induced activation of Erk, P90(RSK), and Elk-1 and promoted the disruption of hemidesmosomes and the expression of matrix metalloprotease (MMP)-2 and MMP-9, important processes for wound healing. Treatment with Erk inhibitor blocked activation of P90(RSK) and Elk-1 and significantly blunted wound repair. Reference: Peptides. 2016 Feb;76:57-64. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26763532/
In vivo activity:
Experiments to identify the neuronal mechanisms underlying the respiratory activity of the opioid peptide leucine-enkephalin were performed on transverse slices of the rat brainstem in voltage-clamped conditions; studies addressed the effects of this peptide (10 nM-1 microM) on the potassium A current and the inward potassium current of neurons in two areas of the respiratory center: the ventrolateral area of the solitary tract nucleus and the pre-Bötzinger complex. Leucine-enkephalin produced reversible increases in the amplitude of the inward potassium current. Reference: Neurosci Behav Physiol. 2007 Sep;37(7):739-46. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17763995/
